Move somewhere else, remain outside IR35
First and foremost, remember it’s still possible to work outside IR35, even for large clients. Consider looking around in your sector to see if other clients have a better handle on IR35 and are doing fair assessments.
Inside IR35, using a limited company
It’s possible to work inside IR35, and to receive payment into your limited company. For large clients it will be taxed at source, and paid net into your limited company. You can then draw it out without any additional taxes. For small clients, you’ll be paid gross, and you’ll be responsible for paying your taxes. We can support you with both of these approaches.
Inside IR35, using an umbrella company
Alternatively, you can use an umbrella company. Your client/agent pays the umbrella your gross payment, and the umbrella then deducts all of your taxes (including employers taxes!) and pays you a net wage into your personal bank account. Read more here.
Inside IR35, on payroll / PAYE
Some clients and agents are pushing payroll / PAYE as an option. In this model, they’ll take care of your deductions, and pay you a net income. You’ll get a payslip just like a regular employee.
Go permie
If the client’s worth it, there’s always the nuclear option.
